In this course, you will learn about the history and misconceptions surrounding bagpipes, an instrument that is often associated with Scotland and Scottish culture today. This course will introduce participants to the fascinating world of bagpipes, uncovering their common diversity and challenging misconceptions surrounding these instruments.
The course will provide participants with a historical exploration of how the utilization of the instrument evolved and how it was used in different cultures. From Ancient Egypt to Greece and Rome, from farmers to royal courts, the participants will explore the diverse range of bagpipe traditions and the meanings different societies attributed to this instrument.
Throughout the course, participants will engage in critical discussions to challenge common misconceptions surrounding bagpipes, the most common probably being related to their origins.
The course is addressed to a wide audience, whether you are a musician, culture enthusiast, or just curious about the fascinating history of bagpipes.
