The core activity of the Institute is research. We focus primarily on interdisciplinary research, that brings together scientific analysis and practice, but also on disciplinary research that takes further our understanding of phenomena relevant for academic or public audiences. The Institute develops, in relation to its research activity, also educational projects, community projects, and policy analysis.

The Institute’s activity is coordinated by the management team, based on the decisions of the General Assembly and the Board. The Institute is formed of research centers, programs and departments, as well as by the management team.
