Alexandru Balaș, Ph.D.

Research Fellow

Dr. Alexandru Balaș este profesor și coordonator al Programului de Studii Internaționale și director al Clark Center for Global Engagement la State University of New York (SUNY) College în Cortland, SUA. A obținut un doctorat în științe politice de la Universitatea din Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (2011), un masterat în analiza și rezolvarea conflictelor de la Universitatea Sabanci (2006) și o licență în științe politice de la Universitatea din București. Printre cărțile sale se numără Sharing the Burden of Peace (Peter Lang, 2022), The Puzzle of Peace (Oxford University Press, 2016) și Peace Operations (Polity Press, 2014). În 2015, a primit grantul Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module Grant din partea Uniunii Europene (UE). În 2017 și 2019, a câștigat granturi de la UE pentru a dezvolta simulări de negociere/mediere în UE, iar una dintre acestea a fost premiată pentru cea mai bună simulare de negociere la E-PARCC (The Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration) 2018, Universitatea Syracuse. Interesele sale actuale de cercetare sunt legate de relațiile UE-India, negocierile UE cu micro-statele (Andorra, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Vatican), relațiile UE cu țările și teritoriile de peste mări și regiunile îndepărtate, rețelele de carte din secolele al XVI-lea și al XVII-lea din Valahia și Moldova și călătorii din secolele al XVIII-lea și al XIX-lea din Principatele Române.
