We invite you to a course that focuses on organizational accidents and highly reliable organizations in order to explore principles of organizational resilience. The course will consist of lectures and discussions, watching videos, and readings.

Elena Gabor, Ph.D.

Elena Gabor, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Communication at Bradley University, Peoria, IL, where she teaches and conducts research in organizational communication. She received her B.A. and her M.A. in Media Management from the University of Bucharest, Romania. She received a second M.A. in Communication from Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA) and her Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN). Her research has focused on organizational accidents, migration, identity, and careers in groups such as wildland firefighters, immigrant women engineers, and classical musicians. Her work has appeared in Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management: An International Journal, in the International Journal of Wildland Firefighting, Journal of Ethnographic and Qualitative Research, and Intercultural Communication Studies. She is the co-editor of the book Immigrants and Meanings of work: Communicating Life and Career Transitions (with Dr. Suchitra Shenoy-Packer, Peter Lang, 2016).
