Research methodology can be defined as a system of rules and procedures that guide the research process, from formulating research questions, formulating hypotheses, and writing a literature review to collecting, analyzing, or interpreting data and drawing conclusions. Thus, understanding methodology is essential to scientific research and plays a critical role in ensuring that research is conducted in a rigorous, reliable, and valid manner. The course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of the social science methodology, equipping students with the minimal tools and insights required for conducting research. The course explores differences between scientific knowledge and common knowledge, understanding the logic and objectives of scientific knowledge, quantitative and qualitative methods, and validity and reliability in research. The course is dedicated to undergraduate and graduate students in social sciences, early career researchers, and professionals interested in conducting social research. It is also valuable for anyone looking to enhance their understanding of research methodologies within the social sciences.
