Cristian Gogu Ph.D. Candidate

Cristian Gogu is a PhD Candidate in Political Science at the University of Connecticut. His main research focuses on the social and geopolitical effects of US dollar dominance in global monetary and financial systems. Other research interests include IR and IPE theory, the politics of money and inequality, and the management of financial crises. Cristian has taught over three years at the undergraduate level courses in Comparative Politics, International Relations, and American Politics. He obtained MA degrees in Political Science from the University of Connecticut (USA) and in Global Political Economy from the University of Kassel (Germany), and a BA from the University of Bucharest.
Cristian is a co-founder of the Romanian chapter of Academics Stand Against Poverty (ASAP), a global network of anti-poverty-focused scholars, lawyers, and practitioners. Other practical experiences include collaborations with ARCADIA – the Romanian Association for International Cooperation and Development, IDC – the Centre for International Cooperation and Development Studies, the Permanent Mission of Romania to the UN, and various civil society organizations.
