Exploring the Past Through Sound: A Proactive Approach to Historical Research
The workshop proposes to use sound as a key factor in deciphering and performing our recent past. This approach highlights the potential of sound as a methodological medium, an aspect often overlooked in academic research.
The proposal emphasizes the integration of sound, walking, and recording as central elements. These exercises foster a subjective understanding of history, inviting participants to experience the past through sound explorations. By engaging in these sound-centric activities, researchers and enthusiasts can uncover new dimensions of historical narratives.
This method supports us to expand our comprehension of recent history, offering a unique and immersive way to connect with the echoes of the past. The workshop is coordinated by Maria Balabaș-Mihăescu and will take place at the Făgăraș Summer School on August 3-4, 2024.
