Drd. Amarachi Igboegwu și Dr. Stefan Cibian were selected to be part of the Global Diplomacy Lab’s (GDL) Summit Group, a group that will design and develop the first GDL Summit. The GDL is an initiative of the German Federal Foreign Office, GIZ Academy for Global Leadership, BMW Foundation – Herbert Quandt, International Alumni Center Berlin and Bosch Alumni Network, and Stiftung Mercator. GDL is also a network of over 200 young professionals coming together from many fields, such as diplomacy and public office, private sector, research, civil society, and media. They, together with the leading partners and the GDL Secretariat aim to bring innovation in the practice of diplomacy while, at the same time, addressing current global challenges. The Summit will take place in May 2020 in Berlin and will focus on three broad topics: global leadership and innovative diplomacy, partnership for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and new security challenges (inequality, climate change, migration, and technology).
