The aim of the course is to interact with nature! The course will be practical and have a hands-on approach. All the theory lessons will take place outside.

The ultimate aim is to harvest 20-30  tree seedlings, native oaks (Quercus Robur and & Quercus Petraea) of about 5 to 10 centimeters tall, and to replant them in the Parcul Regina Maria.

———————————————————————————

Part one.

In the morning the participants and the course leader will meet. After an introduction the group will drive by car to the forest.

The participants will learn about the life of a tree seedling/wildling in the forest and the basic concept of forestry in general. Natural regeneration and competition in the forest will be important topics. After the theory lesson the participant will unearth several tree seedlings/wildling of his/her liking and bring them to Făgăraș.

———————————————————————————

Part two.

In the afternoon the group will return to Făgăraș and replant their selected wildling. The planting will take place in the Parcul Regina Maria. The theory lesson will teach the participant on how to properly plant the wildlings. Also a protective mesh and wooden sticks will be built for each individual wildling. This protects the future tree against winds and animals.(Planting spot needs to be decided and permission granted)

The participant will have improved the Parcul Regina Maria with minimal effort. He/she might be tempted at a later date to see how the tree are growing and might therefore interact with nature again.
