Local communities are increasingly facing complex challenges — from climate change and technological shifts to social and economic crises — for which they are often unprepared. In this context, collective preparedness for the future becomes essential.

The publication Community Foresight: A Guide for Local Communities Preparing for the Future (available at the moment in Romanian) provides practical tools and insights designed to help communities develop their foresight capacity. The guide introduces a framework built around four integrated components: collective learning, facilitation of foresight processes, community action planning, and the design of community spaces for collaboration and learning.

By integrating community foresight practices into their regular activities, local actors can build a sustainable and participatory governance structure, enhance resilience to crises, and strengthen a shared vision for their collective future.

The guide was developed within the School for Sustainable Development – Community Foresight Network project, supported by Raiffeisen Communities and the Association for Community Relations (ARC), and implemented from 2024 to 2025.

This publication is the result of a collaborative process involving local organizations from across Romania and has been tested in two community and educational hubs: @HomeinFăgăraș and Calbor College.
