Bridging the Knowledge Gap for Development

Access to knowledge and to creating knowledge represent a basic ingredient for enabling locally owned development to take place. While development literature emphasizes alleviation of poverty and reduction of inequalities and bridging the digital divide, few accounts insist on the importance of knowledge gaps for protracted underdevelopment.

Bridging the Knowledge Gap Research Program aims to explore the relevance of knowledge and knowledge generation capacity for development and to test the impact of access to knowledge networks, content, and knowledge creation on the development of Făgăraș Country. In order to track the impact of knowledge on the development of the region, the Program, focuses on:

a) the ability to connect to knowledge networks and content, and retention of networks,

b) the ability to use knowledge and content, and openness to and modalities for learning and continued learning,

c) the ability to create knowledge and relate it to relevant practices, and

d) investment in knowledge generation, innovation, etc
